Sam’s practice is rooted in a deep commitment to standing beside individuals and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. He represents clients in complex and sensitive matters, including medical malpractice, sexual abuse, and catastrophic injury cases. In addition, Sam brings focused experience to cases involving spine injuries, brain injuries, and nerve injuries—areas that often require not only strong legal advocacy, but also compassion, patience, and a true understanding of how life-altering these injuries can be.

Originally from West Warwick, Rhode Island, Sam’s journey reflects both academic excellence and a genuine dedication to leadership and service. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Yale University, where he distinguished himself both inside and outside the classroom. During his time there, Sam captained the men’s varsity basketball team, an experience that helped shape his leadership style, work ethic, and commitment to teamwork. His character and compassion were further recognized when he received the Roosevelt L. Thompson Prize, awarded to a senior who exemplifies warmth, fairness, empathy for others, and the promise of moral leadership in public life.

Sam continued his academic path at Stanford Law School, where his intellectual curiosity and discipline earned him top honors. Professors awarded him the Gerald Gunther and John Hart Ely Prizes for outstanding performance in classwork, including receiving the highest grade in Federal Courts. These accomplishments reflect not only Sam’s strong analytical skills but also his dedication to mastering the law as a tool for advocacy and justice.

Following law school, Sam gained invaluable experience through judicial clerkships. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable Patty Shwartz of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the Honorable Timothy S. Hillman of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. These roles provided him with a behind-the-scenes perspective on the judicial process, sharpening his legal writing, strategic thinking, and ability to navigate complex litigation. Today, that experience informs the thoughtful and strategic approach he brings to every case he handles.

At the heart of Sam’s work is a clear mission: to fight for people who have been injured, abused, or wronged. He understands that behind every case is a story—often one involving pain, uncertainty, and a search for accountability. Sam approaches each client relationship with empathy and determination, working tirelessly to help individuals pursue justice, obtain answers, and secure the resources they need to move forward.

His results speak to that commitment. Sam has recovered millions of dollars for his clients, helping them access medical care, financial stability, and a sense of closure after devastating events. Along the way, his work has drawn recognition within the legal community and beyond. He has been featured on the Great Trials and Just Verdicts podcasts, where he has shared insights into litigation strategy and the human side of trial work. He has also been recognized by the National Trial Lawyers as a Top 40 Under 40 trial lawyer, highlighting both his achievements and his growing impact in the field.

Beyond accolades and case results, what sets Sam apart is his approachability and authenticity. Clients often describe him as someone who listens carefully, communicates clearly, and remains deeply invested in their well-being. He understands that legal representation is not only about advocacy in the courtroom, but also about providing guidance, reassurance, and a steady voice during uncertain times.

As Sam continues to serve clients across DC and NYC, he remains driven by the same values that shaped his journey—from his early days in Rhode Island to his academic achievements and professional milestones. Compassion, fairness, and a belief in accountability continue to guide his work and define his approach to the practice of law.

We’re proud to introduce Samuel Martin and look forward to the meaningful impact he will continue to make for the individuals and communities he serves. Welcome, Sam.
